Fugro West Inc., a Ventura engineering concern that’s been involved in some of Ventura County’s most publicized--and controversial--development projects, is on an expansion binge.
Fugro has announced four acquisitions, bringing its staff to a total of 200 in 11 offices throughout the West.
Two of the acquisitions were local: K-C Geotechnical Associates of Santa Barbara and the West Coast division of NCS International, based in Ventura. Fugro also has purchased Aegis Environmental, a Sacramento firm, and SSB Environmental, based in Fresno.
Fugro officials declined to disclose the prices paid for the acquisitions.
Fugro West, a unit of Fugro N. V. of the Netherlands, has helped conduct studies for the proposed Ventura desalination project.
The firm also has prepared environmental impact reports for the proposed Ahmanson Ranch development and for Amgen Inc.’s planned headquarters expansion in Thousand Oaks.
