Unocal Expects to Settle Lawsuit: The suit, filed by the California attorney general, involves petroleum leaks at the company’s Guadalupe oil field near San Luis Obispo. The Los Angeles-based oil and gas producer said it expects to pay an unspecified amount in civil penalties. The penalties are expected to have no material effect on its financial condition, the company said. The company said it expects to take a $25-million charge in the first quarter for the write down of facilities, estimated abandonment costs and remediation expense at the oil field.
