Metalclad Gets Safety Clearance for Mexico Plant
- Share via
NEWPORT BEACH — Metalclad Corp. said Tuesday it had convinced the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi that a hazardous-waste treatment plant the company wants to build is safe.
Metalclad had said in January that it had all the permits to build the plant. At that time, the company also said it wanted to consult with local officials first to avoid criticism caused by inadvertently ignoring local customs.
The company said Tuesday that it had held three meetings with local officials and their scientific advisers since January, and that they had determined that the plant would be safe.
Metalclad said it is now negotiating with a Mexican construction firm.
