Las Virgenes School Board

On Tuesday, voters in the Las Virgenes Unified School District will make several important decisions having long-term implications for our community.
There are six candidates competing for three seats on the LVUSD Board of Education. After carefully reviewing the backgrounds, platforms and qualifications of these candidates, we urge voters to reelect incumbents Charlotte Meyer, Judy Jordan and Barbara Bowman-Fagelson. These three individuals have represented the district well, working together over the last four years to maintain the academic excellence of our schools.
Meyer, Jordan and Bowman-Fagelson are the only candidates who have provided strong support for Measure R since its inception. This worthy proposal, which also appears on Tuesday’s ballot, would authorize LVUSD to issue $93 million in general obligation bonds to finance the construction of new schools and renovate existing facilities.
Measure R will allow the school district to modernize, upgrade and repair its structures, relieve overcrowding and enhance the safety of its premises. Our community has always prided itself on the outstanding reputation of its public schools. Passage of Measure R will ensure that this legacy continues.
