Panavision Inc., of Woodland Hills, reported third-quarter profit of $7.6 million, or 39 cents a share, versus $5.7 million, or 37 cents, a year. . . . John F. Thompson, president and chief operating officer of San Diego-based Aurora Electronics Inc., has also been named CEO . . . Steve Giovanisci, Arco’s vice president of public affairs for the last 12 years, will retire at the end of 1997. Giovanisci, 61, will also step down as president of the Arco Foundation, the company’s charitable arm.
