Irvine Sensors to Take $6-Million Charge

COSTA MESA — Irvine Sensors Corp. said Tuesday that it will take a $6-million charge in fiscal 1997 for manufacturing consolidation.
The electronics company also said it has sold assembly-line equipment for $1.1 million from a Vermont plant that it is discontinuing. Irvine Sensors terminated its lease on the Vermont facility and has moved all stacked memory manufacturing to its California operation as part of a plan to improve financial results.
Irvine Sensors reported a loss of $5.3 million, or 29 cents a share, on $5.4 million in revenue for the fourth quarter of 1996.
