A dance-a-thon featuring a musical tribute to old blue eyes, Frank Sinatra, will take place Friday to raise money for the Children’s Learning Center at Laura’s House, a battered women’s shelter.
“It’s the first dance benefit we’ve held,” said Sandy Condello, Laura’s House executive director and founder. “But we will be having them from now on, the first Friday of every month.”
The learning center is adjacent to the offices for Laura’s House and is where clients’ children receive therapy and participate in learning programs.
The benefit Friday will feature Mayor Patrick M. Ahle, Laura Collier, Miss California 1987, and the music of Les Douglas and “Sounds of Forever.”
Douglas is a ballroom dance instructor at Leisure World in Laguna Hills, said Elaine Lewis, a Leisure World resident who promoted the dance-a-thon idea.
The event will be from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the San Clemente Community Center, 100 N. Seville.
Tickets are $15 at the door or $10 in advance by mailing to Laura’s House, 97 Calle de Industrias, San Clemente 92672. Information: 361-3775.
