Foley Will Start for Jets

Associated Press

New York Jet Coach Bill Parcells announced a quarterback change for the surprising AFC East leaders, giving the starting job to Glenn Foley instead of Neil O’Donnell for Sunday’s game at Miami. . . . Stan Humphries’ season could be over because of Sunday’s concussion, the worst of the four the San Diego Chargers’ quarterback has suffered in a little more than 22 months. Humphries has been told by team physicans to sit out one month after his headaches and other symptoms clear up. . . . Kelly Holcomb, the Indianapolis Colts’ emergency quarterback only three weeks ago, is expected to make his first NFL start Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. . . . The Kansas City Chiefs added some quarterback insurance by signing Billy Joe Tolliver to a two-year contract after Monday night’s injury to starter Elvis Grbac. . . . Rookie safety Tremain Mack, convicted last week of drunken driving, was put on the non-football illness reserve list by the Bengals. He might be eligible to resume playing later this season.
