The semifinals of the Tournament of Champions are today, with preseason favorite Edison (10-1-3) hosting defending champion Santiago (10-2-2). The two met in the first game of the season, with Edison winning, 2-0. But Santiago, led by high-scoring forward Amber Puskas, has come on of late, posting a 9-0-1 record in their last 10 games. Edison is led by forward Andrea Wiles.
In the other semifinal, top-seeded La Verne Bonita (10-0-4) will visit Newport Harbor (7-3-4). In the first round, Bonita edged wild-card Huntington Beach, 1-0, in sudden death, and the Sailors upset second-seeded Marina, 1-0. Senior goalkeeper Erin Kennedy had nine saves in the victory.
The championship game will be at noon Saturday at the Wolfpack Soccer Complex in Fountain Valley. It will be preceded by the third-place game at 10 a.m.
