Opponent--Seattle Reign.
Time--2 p.m.
Site--Pyramid, Long Beach State.
Records--Long Beach 6-4, Seattle 3-8.
Update--The StingRays enter the middle of their 44-game schedule looking at 13 of 18 games at home. But that’s not necessarily good news. Long Beach has lost two of three at home. Today, they play Seattle a second time within 24 hours. As the team finished up postgame interviews and left Mercer Arena Saturday in Seattle, they were scrambling to make a 6:09 p.m. flight. Seattle is trying to climb out of the ABL’s Western Conference cellar (Long Beach is second, behind first-place Portland). The top Seattle rookies are Kate Starbird and Shalonda Enis, who is seventh in rebounding. Pro defenses have pretty much eliminated Starbird’s full-court running game, but she has developed some effective drives on half-court defenses and she can still shoot from beyond the arc. She also leads the league in minutes played.
