‘Tango Bar’
This 1988 movie is both history and celebration of the tango, and the filmmakers play the dances and songs lightly. There’s an affectionately jokey quality, a wink behind the strut. Director Marcos Zurinaga and his smashing choreographers, emcee (Raul Julia, pictured), singers (Valeria Lynch, Ruben Juarez) and dancers (including Nelida y Nelson of “Tango Argentino”) approach “Tango Bar” like a romp (Bravo Thursday at 2:30 and 8 p.m.; Friday at 11:15 a.m.).
