Rusty Kennedy, executive director of the Orange County Human Relations Commission, is in Washington to attend a conference today sponsored by the White House.
Kennedy said he will share information about the county’s Hate Crime Network, which he calls a “national model of collaboration between police and residents to document, respond to and prevent hate-related crimes and incidents.”
The network includes representatives of various ethnic groups who rally in support of hate crime victims throughout Orange County in an effort to “stand together in condemnation of hate crimes,” Kennedy said. “It’s setting a standard that such behavior is not welcome here.”
Santa Ana College will carry a live broadcast of the conference, which begins at 8 a.m. The public may watch it on campus, 1530 W. 17th St.
