Wilson, Foothill Are Top-Seeded Teams in Water Polo

CERRITOS — In a repeat of last year, Long Beach Wilson and Foothill were seeded first and second in the Southern Section Division I playoff pairings released Monday.
Defending Division I champion Wilson (23-1) has lost only to Century League champion Foothill (21-4) two weeks ago at a tournament in Northern California. Last year, Wilson defeated Foothill, 8-6, in the Southern Section title game.
Division I play starts Wednesday with Foothill hosting Long Beach Poly (9-15) at Tustin High and Wilson hosts Santa Ana Valley (20-6). Both games are at 3:15 p.m.
Sea View League Champion Newport Harbor (18-6), seeded No. 3, will host Sherman Oaks
Notre Dame (18-4) at 3:15 p.m. League runner-up Santa Margarita (19-7) will host Dana Hills at 5 p.m. at Saddleback College.
Capistrano Valley (19-8), which won the South Coast League title, will meet El Toro (12-13) at 3:15 p.m. also at Saddleback College. The Tritons will host Long Beach Millikan (6-13).
Villa Park (18-9), which was edged by Foothill for the Century League title, will host Loyola (17-7), which finished second in the Mission League. Servite (16-10) hosts Garden Grove League runner-up Pacifica (9-21). Canyon (13-10), which finished third in the Century League, will be at North Hollywood Harvard Westlake (19-4).
In Division II, top-seeded Los Alamitos (21-4) will host the winner of today’s wild-card game between Cypress and Los Amigos. All Division II first-round games are Thursday. Second-seeded Costa Mesa will host the winner of the other wild-card game between Buena Park and Saddleback. Third-seeded Laguna Beach (17-8) will host Tustin (12-15).
In Division VI which starts Thursday, No. 2-seeded Brea Olinda (16-9) will host the winner of the wild-card game between Cerritos and Baldwin Park (16-9). Orange League runner-up Magnolia will play at Cerritos Gahr and Western will host Los Altos in a wild-card game at 3:15 p.m. today.
