Thanksgiving Dinner Hosts Sought for Hostel Program
- Share via
The Santa Monica International Youth Hostel is seeking people to invite hostelers to their homes for Thanksgiving dinner.
Hostel program Director Lynne Serpe said that this is the first time such a host-visitor program has been attempted.
The Santa Monica hostel has about 200 visitors, most of whom are 18 to 34 years old. Most hostelers are proficient in English, she said. Hosts, who may range from single individuals to families, are also asked to provide transportation.
Hostelers will often be paired together when visiting a host’s home, and the hostel will call up any hosts who have not brought back the visitors by the agreed-upon time, she said.
