PANORAMA CITY — A motorist involved in a traffic collision shot and killed a dog while running through backyards after fleeing the accident scene Tuesday evening, authorities said.
Police were still searching for the man in a Panorama City neighborhood late Tuesday. He was believed to have shot a dog that was chasing him, said Steve Savala of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The accident occurred about 7:35 p.m. at Chase Street and Lennox Avenue. The motorist may have shot at the driver of the other car before jumping the fence of a nearby house, police said. No one was injured in the traffic collision, Savala said.
Police surrounded the area, and officers with dogs were searching through backyards for the motorist Tuesday night.
