While younger members of the Winans gospel clan have made headlines by expressing anti-gay sentiments in their music, BeBe Winans eschews all controversy on his debut solo album. If the entire project had the vigor of his version of “Oh Happy Day,” the record would be a solid winner. As it is, Winans’ generic, gospel-lite material is too tepid.
