Plan to Ease Minority Home Buying Is Set

The latest drive to close the homeownership gulf between whites and minorities: cultural sensitivity training for real estate agents. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Andrew Cuomo and the National Assn. of Realtors, which is meeting in New Orleans, signed an agreement to develop the program. It will teach real estate agents about the customs of minority groups. Nearly three-quarters of whites own their homes, compared with 45.8% of blacks and 43% of Latinos.
