True freshman cornerback Marques Anderson, who has had his ups and downs this season, made three tackles, intercepted a pass, broke up two others, and was in the middle of things Saturday.
Anderson was beaten by Husky receiver Jerome Pathon on a deep pass in the second quarter, but he reached in and tore the ball loose from Pathon to cause an incompletion.
Later in the half, Anderson made one of the key plays of the game when he stepped in front of tight end Jeremy Brigham and intercepted Brock Huard’s pass.
“All of us on defense knew we had to make big plays in this game,” Anderson said.
And the end-zone breakup? “You got to have the speed to catch up,” Anderson said with a smile.
