Toronto Expansion Unlikely

Commissioner Paul Tagliabue said last week the league won’t be providing the Canadian Football League with any more money and that the NFL won’t be expanding to Toronto in the foreseeable future.
Tagliabue and several other top NFL executives were in Edmonton for today’s Grey Cup, the CFL’s championship game.
The NFL loaned $3 million to the CFL this season, which CFL Commissioner John Tory has said contributed to the overall stability of the league.
Tagliabue discounted any suggestion of an NFL team in Toronto because the league has a commitment to having a team in Cleveland by 1999.
