Faster Trip to Brussels? Oui!
Starting Dec. 14, train travel time between Paris and Brussels will be slashed by 33 minutes, to one hour, 25 minutes. The reason is the opening of a 40-mile stretch of high-speed track in Belgium, said a Rail Europe spokeswoman. Trips from Paris to Amsterdam and to Cologne, Germany, also will get shorter.
The Paris-Brussels trains will run every 30 minutes during rush hour. One-way fares will be $58 coach and $89 first class. Advance reservations are recommended, through a travel agent or Rail Europe; tel. (800) 4EURAIL.
