Schools Plan Family Holiday Lunches

Local parents who didn’t get enough of those memorable school lunches when they were children will have the opportunity Thursday to dine with their kids.
For the second year, Santa Paula Elementary School District officials are inviting families to eat a special holiday lunch together.
On the menu is diced turkey and gravy with cranberry sauce, whipped potatoes, peas and “holiday dessert.”
Last year as many as 1,500 parents showed up to chow down with their children, district spokeswoman Pat Untiedt said.
And is the food just how parents remembered?
“It’s worth every penny,” Untiedt said. “When you’re 6, that stuff really looks good.”
The cost is $2.25 for adults and $1.50 for preschoolers. Parents should make reservations at their child’s school by Wednesday and report directly to their classroom five minutes before the designated serving time.
