Call it a housewarming hosted by a city.
More than 300 businesses and educators who are new to Long Beach were honored by city leaders Monday evening at the Pyramid arena on the Cal State Long Beach campus.
“The idea is to welcome new businesses and make them aware of the services and resources available in the city,” said Long Beach spokesman Greg Davy. “Call it being a good neighbor.”
Mayor Beverly O’Neill, Cal State Long Beach President Robert Maxson and other civic leaders spoke about the city’s plans for the future, high-profile construction projects, its commitment to education and opportunities for business development.
Eight local restaurants served samples of their fare.
