Teaching Teachers How to Teach Science
A new collaborative program between Cal State Fullerton and five Orange County community colleges has been launched to improve teacher training in science.
The program offers prospective teachers new classes at Cypress, Fullerton, Orange Coast, Saddleback and Santa Ana colleges designed to help them understand science concepts before they transfer to Cal State Fullerton.
A National Science Foundation grant of nearly $200,000 is funding the program, which is called ConCEPT (Contextual Course work for Elementary Pre-service Teachers).
ConCEPT administrators said the program aims to change the way future elementary school teachers experience science. Information: (714) 278-2188.
