Michael Strieby, 71, aerospace engineer and investment consultant. Born in Orange, N.J., Strieby served in the Navy during World War II, graduated from Swarthmore College and earned his doctorate in electrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Working for Hughes Missile Division, Strieby helped develop and produce the Maverick missile as the project’s associate program manager of engineering. After retiring from aerospace, he worked as an arbitrator for the New York and Pacific Coast Stock exchanges, taught at Cal State Northridge and served as vice president of the Los Angeles chapter of the American Assn. of Individual Investors. Strieby was a frequent writer of letters to The Times on political and economic subjects. On Friday in Chatsworth of complications related to a stroke.
