Cal State Fullerton has announced the signing of 10 baseball players in the early signing period, a group that includes Santa Ana College pitcher Heath Bell and Mater Dei catcher Brett Kay.
Bell, who had an 8-1 record and was a community college all-state selection as relief pitcher last season, is one of four pitchers signed. The others are Nick Neugebauer of Riverside Arlington High, Wes Chisnall of Etiwanda High and Matt Mortimer of Roseville Oakmont High.
Kay, who was all-Southern Section as a junior, batted .430 with 25 runs batted in and seven home runs in 25 games. The Titans also signed catcher Sean Bischofberger of El Cajon.
The three outfielders who made commitments are Rudy Simpson, also from Etiwanda High; Robert Guzman of Lemore High, and Chris Stringfellow of Vista Rancho Buena Vista High. Shortstop Shawn Norris of Draper, Utah, was the only infielder signed.
“We’re really excited about this class,” said Dave Serrano, a Titan assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. “We feel there are some potential future stars in this group.”
