Calabasas Faces Chaminade Next in Semifinals

Calabasas and Chaminade highs advanced with victories Tuesday to a showdown in the Southern Section Division IV girls’ tennis semifinals Thursday.
A coin flip will be held at the Southern Section office today to determine the site of the match.
Chaminade (13-6) scored an 11-7 victory over Rosary at the Northridge Tennis Club, while the Coyotes pounded South Hills, 15-3.
Junior Shervin Saedinia swept her sets at No. 1 singles without losing a game for second-seeded Calabasas (18-3) at South Hills (16-5).
The No. 2 doubles team of Summer Valdes and Tina Kapadia swept their sets, as did the No. 3 team of Monica Alonso and Monica Andrews for Chaminade (13-6).
Harvard-Westlake 11, San Marcos 7--Marissa Irvin swept at No. 1 singles and the Wolverines won seven of nine singles matches to compensate for losing five of nine doubles matches in a Division III quarterfinal at the Studio City Golf and Tennis Center.
Woodbridge 14, Simi Valley 4--The Pioneers (20-2) lost eight out of nine singles sets in a Division I quarterfinals match at Woodbridge.
Six of those singles losses were by 6-0 decisions.
Tri-Valley League Championship--Second-seeded Breanne Henkelman defeated Sarita Pouzanoff, her top-seeded St. Bonaventure teammate, 6-4, 6-4, for the singles championship at El Camino Real Park in Ventura.
The match had been delayed at various times by weather, illness and the Southern Section playoff schedule.
Both players will represent the Tri-Valley League in the Southern Section singles championship Saturday at Agoura High.
