The Monarchs begin their quest for back-to-back Division I titles against the team they defeated, 40-7, in Week 2 of the season. St. John Bosco faces the same problems: trying to stop Mater Dei tailback Mike McNair, who rang up 161 yards and two touchdowns against the Braves, and defending against Mater Dei’s passing attack, led by quarterback John Leonard. Joey Boese also had a big game against the Braves, catching seven passes for 150 yards and a touchdown, plus returning a kickoff 93 yards for another score. Mater Dei will be concerned with tailback Eric Ayers.
