McDonald’s to Open Outlet in Finland
The northern lights will get some competition from the glow of the Golden Arches when McDonald’s opens its northernmost restaurant in Rovaniemi, Finland, just south of the Arctic Circle. The outlet is to open Thursday with a ceremony that includes log fires and illuminated ice sculptures. Rovaniemi, 515 miles north of Helsinki, has about 35,000 people and attracts about 500,000 tourists a year, who come to see the Lapland wilderness that begins at the town’s edge or to check out Rovaniemi’s claim to be the home of Santa Claus.
