I was happy to see the overworked and underappreciated staffers of City New Service get some well-deserved publicity (“Hello, Sweetheart--Get Me Rewrite,” by Lisa Leff, Oct. 5). City News reporters often provide the first and best account of what’s happening in Los Angeles. All of us who make a living here as reporters (I was a reporter for Channel 4 News from 1983 to 1996 and am now a correspondent for “Extra”) rely on CNS day in and day out. It may not be glamorous, but it’s invaluable.
