Leah Combs of Esperanza High and Anna Lembke of Ocean View have been selected to the South team for the fourth California Women’s High School All-Star basketball game, April 11.
The game, beginning at 7 p.m. at Santa Clara University, features the top senior players from Northern California against Southern California’s top seniors.
Combs, a 6-foot-2 center, and Lembke, a 6-3 forward, were Times Orange County first-team selections this year.

The 33rd annual Orange County All-Star high school basketball game will be April 25 at Orange Coast College.
The girls’ game will be played at 5 p.m. Kim Harris of Brethren Christian will coach the North and Pete Belanto of Capistrano Valley the South.
The boys’ game will begin at 8 p.m. Brian Mulligan of Capistrano Valley is coaching the South and Ed Prange of Loara is the North coach.

State champion Calvary Chapel will host a dual meet against high-school age wrestlers from Russia at 7 tonight. Tickets are $8 for adults and free to students and children.

Mater Dei’s Sabrina Smith has made an oral commitment to attend Florida International in the fall and play softball, according to Mater Dei Coach Doug Myers.
Smith is a catcher who is in her third year on varsity.

Forward Mike Bayer of Mater Dei and guard Mike Stowell of Capistrano Valley, both juniors, shared the South Coast League boys’ basketball most valuable player award this season.
