The 6:30 Bus, Late May, by Denise Levertov

The mountain
a moonflower in late
blue afternoon.
The bus
grinds and growls.
At each stop
someone gets off,
the workday over,
heads for home.
Trees in their first
abundance of green
hold their breath,
the sky is
so quiet, cloudless.
The mountain
mutely
by arcane power
summons the moon.
