L.A. Man Pleads Guilty in Bogus Claims

Gilfert W. Jackson of Los Angeles pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud for filing more than 200 bogus bankruptcies against homeowners and renters who had retained him to help them avert foreclosure and eviction. Jackson, 52, who entered the plea in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, is to be sentenced June 29. Under federal sentencing guidelines, he is likely to be sentenced to at least three years in prison.
