WASHINGTON — Starting in August, Americans will be able to fight breast cancer by paying 8 cents extra to mail a letter.
A price of 40 cents was set Tuesday by the Postal Service’s Board of Governors for the special stamp, to be issued in August to raise money to battle the disease.
Proceeds from the 8-cent surcharge will be used for research at the National Institutes of Health and the Defense Department.
