An off-duty security guard was stabbed Monday morning when he intervened in a fight in front of a bar, said Lt. Richard Paddock of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Jorge Ortaga, 19, was taken to Columbia West Anaheim Medical Center and treated for wounds that were not considered life-threatening. On Monday afternoon, he was in stable condition, according to Debra Culver, medical center spokeswoman.
Ortaga was in front of La Bamba Bar in the 11300 block of Beach Boulevard about 2 a.m. when he saw a co-worker fighting with two men, Paddock said. As Ortaga attempted to break up the fight, Paddock said, he was stabbed in the side. The combatants left after the stabbing.
No arrests have been made, Paddock said.
