Brea’s Orris Ties Home Run Record

Brea Olinda’s Geney Orris tied the Southern Section record for career home runs Saturday when she hit her 28th in the Wildcats’ 2-1 loss to Glendora St. Lucy’s in a consolation game at the Charter Oak tournament.
Orris, a senior, hit her fourth of the season to match the total Glendale’s Jenny Dalton ended her career with in 1992. Orris’ second-inning home run was the only run for Brea (12-5) and she had two of her team’s three hits.
In boys’ volleyball at the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions:
Newport Harbor 3, Santa Barbara 1--Scott Archibold recorded 22 kills and Matt Jameson added 19 to lead Newport Harbor (13-0) to a 13-15, 15-6, 15-8, 15-11 victory in the championship game.
