Medtronic Inc., the biggest manufacturer of pacemakers and other heart-rhythm devices, acquired the Paceart business from General Electric Co.’s Medical Systems unit to add patient-monitoring tools. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
Paceart’s computer systems that store a history of patients’ heart activity complement Medtronic’s implanted heart-rhythm device that allows doctors to monitor patients over the Internet, Medtronic spokesman Scott Papillon said.
Minneapolis-based Medtronic fell 49 cents to $49.51 on the NYSE.
