Wedbush Name Placed Atop 1000 Wilshire Blvd.

In a sign of how times have changed, the name of Los Angeles-based Wedbush Morgan Securities has been placed atop the 1000 Wilshire Blvd. office building in downtown Los Angeles.
The sign bearing the name of Wedbush, one of the region’s largest investment banks and brokerage firms, is scheduled to be dedicated Wednesday.
Wedbush won the right to erect its name on the 22-story office tower last year when it became the largest tenant at 1000 Wilshire by leasing 113,000 of its 471,000 square feet.
The building formerly housed the headquarters of Coast Federal Savings, one of several banks and savings and loans that vacated downtown buildings after buyouts and consolidations reduced their need for office space.
The Coast name is still visible atop 1000 Wilshire, where it is etched in the building surface, but plans call for the former S&L;’s name to be removed.
