Mayor Carmen Sabatino, criticized for running up a big bill on his city cellular phone, now has one of his own.
Sabatino won a free cell phone and a month of calls from Cricket Communications, a Spokane, Wash., company that recently began serving the area. He was one of 15 people who won the phones and accessories, out of 300 entries.
In a recent 19-month period, Sabatino’s taxpayer-funded cell phone bill totaled $6,712, including one monthly bill of $695. Sabatino said he will keep his old cell phone as well.
