The best race of the day is the $100,000 De La Rose Handicap, a Grade III for older fillies and mares on the turf at Gulfstream Park turf.
The 11/16 mile-race attracted 13 entrants--Cherry Tree Hill is an also-eligible--and features two hot mares and a sharp filly.
Topping the field are Batique, a 6-year-old daughter of Storm Cat; Veil Of Avalon, a 5-year-old daughter of Thunder Gulch; and Snow Dance, a 4-year-old gray daughter of Forest Wildcat.
From the inside out, the rest of the field for the De La Rose includes Windsong, Wander Mom, Guillotine, My Sweet Westly, Musical, Clearly A Queen, Unbridled Vice, O K To Dance and Please Sign In.
Next-best race of the day: Theatre Script, a 4-year-old son of Theatrical, will make his U.S. debut for owner Robert Sangster and trainer Simon Bray in today’s seventh at Santa Anita, the next-to-last race in a pick six which has a carryover of $102,760.
Who’s hot: Tom Amoss. The trainer is winning at about a 40% clip at the Fair Grounds and is second in the standings behind Steve Asmussen, who has run about 85 more horses.
Who’s not: Distinctly Bold. The Earth Star gelding hasn’t come close in his first four races and is among the longshots in today’s sixth at Golden Gate Fields.
Exotically speaking: A trifecta using Theatre Script on top with Tricky Travis and Mister Kick in the two hole and all in the third spot.
Winners: Previous day/meet total: 3/63. Money: previous day/meet total: $20.40/$413.40. Total money bet: $376.
