1 Person Dies in Vehicle’s Plunge

One person was discovered dead Saturday afternoon in the wreckage of a vehicle that plunged off a cliff and caught fire.
The charred vehicle was reported to the CHP just before 3:30 p.m. It was estimated to have dropped 150 to 200 feet off a fire road north of the Monte Cristo Campground, the CHP said.
The identity of the victim was not known. The death was being investigated as an accident.
