10,000 Gallons of Raw Sewage Spills in Field
- Share via
A buildup of excess grease and debris blocked up a main sewer line and caused it to overflow, sending 10,000 gallons of untreated sewage into a nearby basin and a field of flowers, officials said.
The backup occurred about 10:45 p.m. Thursday near the 800 block of Faulkner Road, officials said. The sewage spilled for about two hours early Friday morning.
City workers pumped some of the effluent out of a catch basin in the area but the remaining sewage soaked into the field, officials said.
The public has been advised to avoid the area until Monday.
