The 66-room Furnace Creek Inn in Death Valley National Park, rated four diamonds by AAA, its second highest rating, is offering substantial discounts on weekdays for the next two weeks. Room rates, usually starting at $235 this time of year, start at $150. (The rates do not include 9% tax and an energy charge of $2.50 per night.) And a round of golf for two, including a cart, costs $75 instead of $135. The rates are subject to availability, must be reserved and are good tonight through Thursday and again Feb. 3 to 7. The deals mark the resort’s 75th anniversary. They must be booked by calling the hotel, (760) 786-2345; they are not available on the resort’s Internet site, a spokeswoman said.
