Private school teacher Audra Strickland has been appointed to the Ventura County Board of Education to replace convicted child molester Albert Rosen.
Strickland, the wife of Assemblyman Tony Strickland, will remain on the board until a new member is elected Nov. 5. Strickland, a junior high school teacher at Temple Christian School in Ventura, has said she will not run for the seat, which represents Moorpark and Simi Valley.
Strickland, 28, was selected from among 11 applicants and approved on a 3-1 vote, county Office of Education spokeswoman Sandy Wade said. Rosen, who had served on the board since 1989, was convicted July 3 of molesting a relative during the period from 1966 to 1971. He is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 12.
