Eight Soldiers Killed by Suspected Taliban Mine

From Times Wire Reports

Eight Afghan soldiers were killed when a remote-controlled mine, planted by suspected Taliban militants, blew up their vehicle in Khowst province, an Afghan security official said.

The Afghan soldiers were part of a special unit working with coalition forces to monitor regions that border Pakistan, said the official, Rehman Karim. Afghan authorities have claimed that members of the ousted Taliban are launching attacks from safe havens in the lawless tribal regions of western Pakistan.
