Conflicts of Interest in Corporate Donations

Yes, Anne Cox is right (“Corporations’ Execs Should Be Held Accountable for Corporate Crime,” Letters, June 22).
But the very chartering of a corporation serves to protect, for the most part, the execs from their actions.
If we want to bring corporate crime to justice we should look at the laws and history related to corporations. There already are laws on the books that allow a state to dissolve the charter of miscreant corporations. Our problem is that these laws are almost never enforced.
Why? Because most of our “representatives” have gained their positions through campaign donations from these same corporate donors and are beholden to them in making new laws.
