Re “Compromise Budget OKd on 27-10 State Senate Vote,” July 28: A foolproof way to prevent a future budget impasse in California: How long would the politicians play games if it meant it would cost them big bucks? We need a constitutional amendment providing that all Assembly and Senate members, elected state officers and each of their six top aides forfeit three days’ pay for each day after the June 30 deadline that the state did not have a budget.
