The San Joaquin County sheriff, who has been under federal scrutiny for alleged civil rights violations, has publicly attacked the FBI for its probe.
Sheriff Baxter Dunn criticized the FBI’s tactics and motives Thursday after federal officials decided not to indict him after a nine-month investigation. The five-year statute of limitations expired Wednesday.
Dunn was accused of using excessive force against a man taken into custody after a three-hour standoff with a sheriff’s SWAT team in 1998.
