Subway and Bus Fare to Hit $2 on Sunday

A Manhattan judge refused to block a fare hike for riders of the nation’s largest public transit system, allowing the cost of a trip on the city’s subways and buses to hit $2 on Sunday.
State Supreme Court Justice Louis York refused to issue a temporary restraining order requested by the Straphangers Campaign, a commuters’ group, which charged the Metropolitan Transportation Authority had misled the public about its finances. A full hearing on the request is scheduled for Friday.
