From Times Wire Reports
Tough economic times have forced the Silicon Valley Charity Ball, originally scheduled for Saturday, to be canceled.
Organizers said they are soliciting donations for local charities through direct mail and have raised nearly $300,000 so far.
The ball has raised more than $10 million for charity since 1987.
Organizers said they hope to revive it next year.
The ball raised just $365,000 in 2002, down from $1.5 million the year before.
