At least five people were killed and 20 wounded when Muslim militants battled with Palestinian gunmen in Lebanon’s largest refugee camp, witnesses said.
Analysts said the clash, the bloodiest in at least a year, amounted to a battle for control of the Ein el Hilwa camp.
The battle with automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades pitted an obscure militant group against forces loyal to Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat’s Fatah movement, one of several Palestinian factions that control the camp.
